Arnold J. Brenay, 93, of Bay City, went to be with the Lord at 11:07 a.m. Saturday, February 14, 2015. Arnold was born on August 24, 1921, in Alpena, Michigan, to the union of James and Myrtle (Johnson) Brenay. Arnold's father James passed early in his life and stepfather, Alfred Hasenburg greatly influenced his life. He is survived by six children, Terry, James (Phyllis), David (Katie), Robert (Paula), Ricky, Melissa (Richard) Emerson. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren, April, Tracey, Kelly, Angela, Michelle, Jennifer, Christina, Lisa, Jessica, Christina, Robert Jr., Stacey, Jason, Nicole, Julia, Randy, Ricky Jr., James, Emilie, Matthew, Rebecca and Richard lll. In addition he has 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers. Arnold proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was in the Battle of the Bulge finally ending the war in 1945. Arnold loved to tell his war experiences to all who would listen! During his life he worked many jobs specializing in construction. His hobbies including wood working, furniture building, sailing and enjoying his grandchildren. He loved playing the banjo and mandolin. He was the pastor in the community for over 40 years, most recently at New Testament Bethel Church in Bay City. A Memorial Service will be held at New Testament Bethel Church, 1215 Leng Street, Bay City, MI 48706, on March 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.
