Arthur "Art" Janz

Art passed away early Thursday morning, May 30, 2013 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 88 years. The son of the late Sylvester and Blondina (Kolm) Janz was born September 4, 1924 in Zilwaukee, MI. He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. Art retired from Chicago Transit Authority as a bus driver. He enjoyed doing woodworking and going fishing. He served in the U.S. Army during W.W.II and was a member of the American Legion Post#225. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife the former, Arlene A. Leonard whom he married June 9, 1946, his son and daughter-in-law, Dale Arthur and Marie Janz, his daughter and son-in-law, Dawn Marie (Robinson) and Russell Johnson, his daughter-in-law, Joann Priest, his grandchildren, Melissa Ann (Thomas) Vega, Lisa Marie (Michael A. West II) Robinson, Jonathan Arthur (Katie) Janz, Austin Theodore Robinson, Arielle Arlene Robinson, Dale Arthur Janz Jr., Jeremy Balcirak, Jacob Balcirack and Daniel Lopez, eight great grandchildren, Paige, Justus, Michael, Rebecca, Tavian, Grace, Kaylen and Annabelle, his sister, Minnie Yurgaties, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Kay Janz, two great grandchildren, Michael and Arianna, one brother, Edwin Janz. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Andreas H.Teich followed by a Graveside Committal Service and Military Honor's at Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Art will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
