Arthur (Buck) Joseph Werner II

Arthur J. Werner II (Buck) Bay City/Gladwin Michigan Buck passed away suddenly October 27, 2015 at his cabin in Gladwin, Michigan. Age 68 years. The son of the late Arthur J. and Marie Monica (Samoleski) was born May 3, 1947 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Buck was a US Army Veteran who served in Vietnam and received a purple heart after being wounded July 2nd, 1968. Other awards include Combat Infantry badge, Expert sharpshooter, Vietnam service badge, National Defense service medal, and Campaign Medal. He worked as a plumber/pipefitter with Local 816 and Local 85 for 40 years. He was a long time president of Local 816 and Local 85 as well as a BA. Buck was an avid outdoorsman who coached youth wrestling and baseball. Buck married Judy (Cliff) Werner October 17th 1970 and is survived by her and three loving sons. Arthur J. Werner III (wife Joy), Jeffrey C. Werner (wife Beth), and Steven M. Werner (wife Becky). As well as his loving granddaughters Brooklyn, Camryn, Leighton, Adelyn and a future grandchild due in February. He was the eldest child in the family and is also survived by his siblings; Ann, Jean and Jim and his nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church (103 E. Midland St. Bay City, MI 48706). Officiating will be Rev. Linda K. Williams with private Military Honors and Interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. to receive visitors on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Werner will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to Wounded Warrior Project or Ronald McDonald House.
