Barbara J. Bowen, of Bay City, passed away Thursday morning December 22, 2011 at the Bay Medical Care Facility after fighting her courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease), age 72. The daughter of the late Harry & Mabel (Kleinke) Rivet, she was born July 1, 1939 in Bay City. Barbara retired from the City of Bay City where she worked as a crossing guard for 18 years. She enjoyed working with ceramics, playing bingo and going to the casino. Barbara is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ronald W. Bowen, Sr.; their children, Ronald (Kim Whitney) Bowen, Jr., Deborah (Keith) Koehler, Cynthia Farrell and Stephanie Bowen; grandchildren, Ashley, Kelsey, Amber, Dalton and Brian; a great-grandson, Deavon; her sister, Dorothy Burke; brother, Mike Rivet; daughter-in-law, Deb Bowen; three sisters-in-law, Joan (Bob) Rivet, Joan (Tom) Rivet) and Joanne Foerster; and a brother-in-law, William Bowen. Besides her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Farrell; her sister, Sally Moquin; three brothers, Harry, Bob and Tom Rivet; and a brother-in-law, Don Burke The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff of the Bay Medical Care Facility for the wonderful care Barbara received during her stay. At Barbara's request, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc.
