Barbara J. Gaertner

Mrs. Gaertner passed away early Friday morning, September 13, 2013 at Bay Medical Care Facility. The daughter of the late Daniel M. and Jessie (Scott) Wood was born March 4, 1917 in Bay City, Michigan. She was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. Mrs. Gaertner retired from the Law Offices of Wood & Wood. She had a great love for her nieces and nephews and was always there to encourage and inspire them. Mrs. Gaertner was always impeccably dressed and also enjoyed gardening and her pets. She is survived by her husband; Erich K. Gaertner whom she married June 25, 1964. Also surviving is one sister-in-law; Martha Wood and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by four brothers; Francis, Alexander, Daniel and James Scott Wood. Mrs. Gaertner was blessed with the care and compassion of Kay Adams as well as the staff at Bay Medical Care Facility. Funeral and CommittalServices will take place Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with private interment in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Gaertner will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 12:00 o'clock Noon until the time of services.
