Barbara A. Martens

Martens, Barbara A. Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Martens passed away early Saturday morning July 3, 2010 at her residence. Age 80 years. She was born August 30, 1929 in Bay City. She was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, retired from Giant Family Center, enjoyed playing bingo, lottery and crocheting. She is survived by her children; Mark Martens and Connie Bartlett, Robert Martens, Tracy (William) Horne all of Bay City, MI, Carla (Robert) Piasecki Sr. of Cadillac, three daughter-in-law: Sally, Jackie and Gloria, twelve grandchildren: Chris, Michael, Aaron, Bailey Martens, Bridget Alexander, Megan Riedlinger, Stephanie Herrera, Robert Piasecki Jr. Angela Manor, Kristy Hardin, Andrew and Korrie Horne, twelve great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, one step sister; Cheryl Stopyak, two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two special aunts; Beatrice Gies and Maureen Robinson, one special uncle; Frank Fuhr, and many other aunts, uncles nieces, nephews and friends. On October 30, 1948 she married Carl Martens and he preceded her in death on January 24, 1999. She was also preceded in death by two sons: Kris J. Martens and Arnoe M. Martens, her grandson: Kyle Horne, her father; Joseph Christie, mother and step father; Evelyn and Martin Nowicki, and one sister; Elizabeth Foldie. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Craig L. Albrecht with a private family Rite of Committal in St. Patrick's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Monday from 11:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the deceased will take place Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Martens will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of services. Memorial cards for the Wishes of the Family will be available at the funeral home.
