Barbara passed away Friday, December 11, 2020 at Stonecrest Assisted Living in Freeland, Michigan at the age of 90 years. Barbara was born in Bay City, Michigan on September 4, 1930 to the late William and Eleanor (Arndt) Reichenbach. She married Robert K. Sursely on October 20, 1951 celebrating nearly sixty eight years of marriage at the time of Roberts passing on September 19, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Reichenbach and grandson, Sean Battle.
Barbara loved reading and was an accomplished communicator both verbally and in written form. She loved camping and visiting with family and friends. Barb always had a hug for everyone. She was a joy to each of her grandchildren and was visited by them often as children and adults. Barbara and Robert were long time members of Zion Lutheran Church. Barbara was a distinguished employee in several fields of work but most notably she excelled in charitable and volunteer work throughout her life.
Barbara is survived by her daughters, Kellie (Tom) Battle and Robin (Tom) Walraven; grandchildren, Steven Battle, Katy (Jim) Tessmer, Kyle (Alicia) and Cody Walraven; several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
At the request of Barbara cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Private inurnment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, Michigan.
