Bernie passed away Sunday, July 27, 2014 at her residence. Age 70 years. The daughter of the late Bernard and Marie (Timm) Savage was born March 1, 1944 in Bay City. She graduated from St. Mary's High School and attended Northeastern School of Commerce. Bernie was a member of St. Gabriel Parish (St. Anthony and St. Joseph's), Knights of Columbus Auxiliary #3590, serving as the current secretary and past president, a member of the Red Hat Society, "Bay City Babes Chapter" and the Bay City Gems. Bernie worked for many years as a bookkeeper/dental assistant for Dr. J.P. Romzick D.D.S. She lived by her faith, will be remembered for her unfailing kindness and her great sense of humor. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, celebrating life family and friends. She was a master seamstress and made many dresses for weddings, proms and homecomings, she was an artist extraordinaire, enjoyed traveling, playing cards and Scrabble. Left to cherish her memory is her husband and the love of her life; Robert E. Kalinowski and they were united in marriage on July 30, 1966, her children; Brian (Yvette) Kalinowski, Lee Ann (John) Bissonette, Matthew (Amy) Kalinowski, Kathy (Anthony) Bates, David (Amber) Kalinowski, her grandchildren; Larissa, Allison, Elena, Wyland, Eric, Emily, Jasmine and Claret, her siblings; Frederick (Patricia) Savage, Edward (Carole) Savage, Catherine (Hugh) Treanor, Mary Ellen (Peter) Miceli, Ann (Donovan) Sanborn, her sister-in-law; Barbara Savage, her brother-in-law; Gerald Kalinowski, many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother; James Savage, one sister and brother-in-law; Marjorie and Robert Mysliwski, one sister-in-law; Della Kalinowski. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Parish West Campus (St. Anthony's) 11 Mile and Midland Rd. Auburn, MI 48611. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Thomas E. Sutton with the Rite of Committal following in St. Anthony's Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral home on Wednesday to receive family and friends from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Bernie will be taken to the church to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
