Kerbawy, Bernard Jerome, 58, formerly of Saginaw, died February 27, 2010 in Kansas City, Mo. of Cancer. Bernard was born October 8, 1951 in Saginaw to the late Page N. and Ruth M. Kerbawy. He graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1969. He received a Congressional appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point from which he graduated in 1973. He resigned his commission 1978 with the rank of Captain. Bernard was active in Youth Ministry in the Archdiocese of Seattle, Washington following the army. After a fruitful ministry of service, Bernard discerned a way of life consisting voluntary poverty and voluntary homelessness. He faithfully followed his vocation as a prayer-warrior, mystic, seer and victim-soul. He has donated his body to medical research. Bernard is survived by 2 sisters: Loretta (Chuck) Sova and Ellen Suarez; and 5 brothers: Thomas (Sharmella) Kerbawy, Fr. Kevin Kerbawy, Robert (Maria del Carmen) Kerbawy, Colin (Marybeth) Kerbawy and Gregory (Peg) Kerbawy. Also surviving are 15 nieces and nephews. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law and a nephew. Memorials may be given to the donor's favorite charity. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
