Beth A. Schmidt New Orleans, LA Beth Anne Schmidt died June 16, 2016. She was born in Bay City, Michigan to Betty and Louis Schmidt. Beth died 22 days after her father Louis (pictured) died. Both fought long and courageous battles against cancer. We miss them dearly. Beth resided in New Orleans, LA and worked as a Systems Analyst for the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Although cancer took her from us at the young age of 57, her legacy of compassion, kindness, courage and service has changed thousands of lives in numerous ways: as a Peace Corps volunteer in Senegal, assisting with local, country-wide and international disaster rescue efforts, and working tirelessly helping animals. Beth gave all of her free time and resources to feral cat trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts. She rescued 100s of sick and injured cats - often fostering them until they could find good homes. Beth is survived by her mother Betty of Bay City, MI; brother Paul of Sunnyvale, CA; brother Jeffrey and wife Cynthia of Denver, CO and brother Mike and wife Pam of St. Louis, MO. The family would like to thank the staff at McLaren Hospital (3-East) and Home Health Care, Compassionate Care and Beth's truly amazing and supportive friends in New Orleans and elsewhere. At Beth's request, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held in New Orleans at a later date. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to CATNIPFoundation.org or AnimalHelperNOLA.org.
