Our dear mother has gone into the arms of her Loving Savior passed peacefully early Wednesday morning, March 16, 2016 at Barton Woods Assisted Living in Freeland where she received excellent care. The daughter of the late Earl J. and Violet (Uphoff) Rogers was born July 6, 1920 in Saginaw. She was a very active member of Faith Lutheran Church. Mrs. Eckstorm enjoyed swimming, dancing, going out to eat, spending time with her friends at Midland Manor and volunteered her time at Faith Lutheran School. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Cherishing her memory are her children, Marjorie (Robert) Krzyzaniak; Barbara (Donald) Kirby and Kay Eckstorm; her grandchildren, James Krzyzaniak; Joseph (Shelley) Krzyzaniak; John (Patti) Krzyzaniak; Jeffrey Krzyzaniak; Jackie Turner; Mary Ann (Jeffrey) Rosser; Donald (Kristi) Kirby; Todd (Kris) Kirby; Andy (Ashley) Cole; Aaron Cole; many great grandchildren; great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and her faithful caregiver, Marjorie Truemner. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, William L. Eckstorm whom she married September 2, 1939 and he passed away on February 22, 1984, one daughter and son-in-law, Gloria and James Cole; her brothers, Fred, Wesley and Dwight Rogers and two sisters, Suzann Edwards and Dora Rogers.
At the request of Mrs. Eckstorm she donated her body to the University of Michigan Medical School for research. A Memorial Service will take place Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Daniel C. Meckes and Rev. Matthew A. Hall. The family will be present at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
