Neitzke, Beverly Jean, of Bay City, Michigan passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, age 86 years. She was born May 21, 1927, a daughter of John and Norma (Chase) Eurek from St. Charles, MI. She was a graduate of Chesaning High School and Eastern Michigan University's class of 1947, being affiliated with Pi Kappa Sigma. Beverly and Frederick Neitzke were married in St Charles at Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church in 1952. She began her teaching career in St. Charles Reynolds District, moving onto Saginaw's Fuerbringer and Handley, then Farragut in Bay City, later she substituted for many districts including public and parochial schools in Saginaw, Reese, Linwood and Bay City. Her career finished with teaching English at Bay City's Wenona Adult Education Center. Beverly enjoyed a busy life being involved with Webelo Scouts as a Den Mother, PTA official at St Mary's, Jefferson and Washington schools, driving YMCA swim teams to weekend meets, Sweet Adeline Singers, Past President of Elks #88 Does Club, Heritage House Historical Society, a founding member of the Bay City Yacht Club, spending summer weekends at Blue Lake (Frederic MI) and K of C 414. She is survived by her husband Fred, daughters Mina Neitzke and Karil Neitzke of Petoskey, sons Mark Neitzke of Waterford MI and Cpt. Craig Neitzke USN (wife Cindy Sequin) stationed in Okinawa Japan. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Teresa (husband Zeke) Eberly, Emily Bond, Garrett Bond, Luke Neitzke, Chase Neitzke, Victoria Mullins, Catherine Neitzke, Mary Neitzke, Liam Tobin Annalise Neitzke, Olivia Neitzke, one great-grandson Nathaniel Rodriguez, aunt Novella Holappa, brother-in-laws Jack Greenman, Kenneth Weber, and niece Kim Kippert. She was preceded in death by her sisters Barbra Greenman and Marlene Weber, and nephew Douglas Greenman. The family will receive friends at Gephart Funeral Home, 201 W. Midland St, Bay City, on Friday, March 21, 2014 from 2 to 8 PM. A rosary service led by the family will take place Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Boniface Church, 510 N. Lincoln Ave, at 11 AM on Saturday, March 22, 2014. Mrs. Nietzke will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until time services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Salvation Army.
