Burgess, Billy J. (BJ) Bay City, Michigan Mr. Burgess passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 16, 2011 at Bay Shores Nursing Center. Age 93 years. He is alone no more, he has gone to be with his wife, Clara. Billy was born on October 8, 1917 in Virginia, MN to the late William and Jennie( Lee) Burgess. They moved to Bay City when Billy was a baby and he has resided here ever since. On February 8, 1941, he was united in marriage to the former Clara A. Jacobs. She passed away on October 11, 2006. Billy retired from Saginaw Grey Iron as a Layout Engineer. He was a life member of F.O.E. . Aries # 2380 in Vassar and a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. He served with the United States Army and was a World War II Veteran, serving both the European and the Pacific theaters. The latter as a CFC gunner on B-29's from the Island of Tinian in the Pacific. He loved spending time with his family, playing golf and collecting golf score cards of which he had over 10,000 from all over the world. He also enjoyed gardening. Left to treasure his memory are his daughter; Sandra (Michael) Buda of Bay City, a son; Gary ( Karen) Burgess of Charlotte, N.C., granddaughters; Michelle (Mark) Kondziola of Bay City, Stephanie (Andrew) Schultz of Grosse Pointe Farms and great granddaughters; Tara Cunningham, Tori Cunningham, Melanie Kondziola, Claire Schultz and Katherine Schultz. Billy was preceded in death by his wife; Clara, a daughter; Nancy, a brother; Lee and his nephew; Douglas. The Family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Bay Shores Nursing Care Center for the great care given to him during his stay. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church with private inurnment at Floral Gardens Mausoleum. The family will be present at the church to receive visitors on Saturday February 26 from 9:00 a.m. and until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Visitation Catholic Church or the Wishes of the Family.
