Buffman, Carl L. Bay City, Michigan Carl L. Buffman beloved father and grandfather returned home to the Lord Jesus on Monday, November 15, 2010 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous sixteen month battle with pancreatic cancer. He was welcomed to Heaven by his beloved wife Ruth Marie Buffman and his loving granddaughter; Megan whom he greatly missed. Age 82 years. Carl was born on September 13, 1928 to the late Oliver and Erna (Dorre) Buffman in Bentley, Michigan. He is survived by his children; Susan Buffman (Steve Brown), Elaine (Keith) Haag, Kevin (Kelli) Buffman, Sherry (Mark) Ouellette and Judy Buffman. He was blessed with his grandchildren; Megan, Eric (Rachel), and Jenna Buffman, Ryan Werkmeister, Derek Werkmeister serving with the U.S. Marines, Adam and Amanda Haag and Alex and Danielle Ouellette, the family is expecting the first great grandchild who is going to arrive in December; Cameron Marcus Carl Buffman, three sisters; Mary Wagner, Louella Krol and Leona (Jerry) Foco, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Marcella Buffman, Ursula Buffman, Sharon Dennis, Shirley Pilot and Jack Welch and many nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. On September 11, 1954 he married the former Ruth Marie Welch and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2005. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter; Megan Buffman, eight brothers; Wilford, Lyle, Richard, Freddie, Clarence, Art, Jack, Howard Buffman and two sisters; Edith Buffman and Dorothy Goodman. Mr. Buffman attended Bay Valley Christian Church, he retired from A.J. Rehmus & Son as a foreman after forty two years of service and was a member of the Laborers Local # 1098. Carl served with the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 in the Korean Conflict, he enjoyed gardening, going to the casino, hunting, fishing and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Staff at the Karmanos Cancer Institute and McLaren Visiting Nurse and Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Carl and his family during the time of his illness. Funeral Services will take place Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Bay Valley Christian Church. (2535 E. Wilder Road Bay City, MI 48706) Officiating will be Pastor Matt Vandertol with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Buffman will be taken to the church on Friday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for the Wishes of the Family will be available at the funeral home.
