Fiting, Carl A. Bay City, Michigan Our beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away Friday November 30, 2012 at Plainview Assisted Living in Auburn surrounded by the love of his family. Age 93 years. He was born May 21, 1919 in Hemlock, Michigan to the late George and Esther (Kruth) Fiting. Carl retired from Standard Oil Company as an agent, and proudly served his country as a pilot in the United States Air Force during World War II; he was honorably discharged as a Major. He is survived by his children and their spouses: George Fiting and his companion Kym Taylor of Kawkawlin; James and Elsa Fiting of Clovis, New Mexico; Sharon and Thomas Bublitz of Akron, MI; Gary and Debra Fiting of Bay City; his daughter-in-law, Tena Fiting of Bay City; ten grandchildren: Geoffrey, Amanda (Josh), Michael (Tina) , Hunnelle (Greggory), Elizabeth, Kristie (Rich), Timothy, Chad (Angela), Brian (Kathy) and Matthew; fourteen great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews. On March 3, 1943 he married the former Arlene R. Reetz in Brownsville, TX and she preceded him in death on August 1, 2005. He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Lillian Breternitz and Laura Fehn, and one brother: Elmer Fiting. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Plainview Assisted Living for the kind and compassionate care they extended to Mr. Fiting. Funeral and Committal Service will take place Wednesday December 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Joseph Atchinson under the auspices of the Bay County Veterans Council and the United States Air Force. Private entombment will take place in Oakwood Mausoleum, Saginaw, Michigan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Memorial contributions for the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic, Good Samaritian Rescue Mission or the Bay County Veterans Council will be available at the funeral home.
