Mr. Wieland passed away early Tuesday morning, January 29, 2019 at his residence, at the age of 74 years. The son of the late Benjamin and Esther (Buechler) Wieland was born May 8, 1944 in Bay City, Michigan. He was member of Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1962. Carl retired from Central Mine Equipment in Earth City, MO as a salesman. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #169, Elks Lodge #188, 50 year member of the White Pine Club in Alpena County until 2010 and the American Legion Post #239 in Crump, MI. Carl was an avid deer hunter who enjoyed hunting the archery season in Michigan and Kansas, pheasant hunting, fishing, camping, traveling and wintering in Florida. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Left behind to cherish his memories is his wife of 55 years the former, Nancy A. Beyer whom he married December 28, 1963. And they just enjoyed a trip to Cancun to celebrate 55 years of marriage, one daughter, Laura "Laurie" Johnson; two granddaughters, Katie Johnson and Audrey Johnson; two sisters, Ruth King and Lillian Wheeler, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael (Laura) Beyer, Susan Beyer, Dennis (Alana) Beyer and Rainell Wieland, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Wieland; one brother, Robert Wieland, one sister, Kathleen (James) Ralph, two brothers-in-law, Fred King and Edward Wheeler.
Funeral and Committal Services will take place Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council with cremation following. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive family and friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mr. Wieland will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to wishes of the family in lieu of flowers.
