Carol A. Hacker fell asleep in Jesus and received her crown of glory on Wednesday, August 8, 2018, with Sam and the boys at her side, at age 71.Carol was born on September 28, 1946 in Midland, Michigan to Ernest and Inez (Schweigert) Marsh, who preceded her in death. She was born again as a child of God in the waters of Holy Baptism shortly thereafter and was kept as a child of God throughout her life as Jesus continued to come to her in her regular worship and reception of the Lord Supper. Carol was a longtime and active member of St. Bartholomew Lutheran Church and served many years as church office secretary. She retired as Deputy Treasurer/Clerk of the City of Pinconning.
Carol was married to Samuel J. Hacker Jr. of Bay City on September 2, 1967, who survives her. Carol is also survived by her sons: Pastor Samuel Hacker III of Flint, Michigan, and Pastor Jason (Jennifer) Hacker of Wales, Wisconsin; and her grandchildren: Malachi, Lydia, Magdalena, and Matthias Hacker of Wales, Wisconsin, her sister, Linda (Victor) Buzard of Raleigh, North Carolina, several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Celebration of her eternal life for the comfort of her family and friends will be Monday, August 13th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew, with Pastor Larry Seafert as officiant. Interment will take place in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday to receive family and friends from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Carol will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial may be given for the Martin Luther College Student Assistance Fund and The Toni and Trish House.
