Carol Karen Schroer of Bay City, Michigan passed away early Wednesday morning November 5, 2014 at Caretel Inns of the Tri Cities at the age of 72 years following a lengthy illness. The daughter of the late Dean and Helen (Inskeep) Schroer was born on January 26, 1942 in Bay City and has resided here all of her life. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and formerly served as an elder and deacon. She was active with the Rolling Readers with the Bay City School System, a volunteer with Division on Aging and had a great interest in Friends of Bay County Library System. She is survived by two special nieces; Christine Thurman and her friend Tom Rivard of Bay City, Robin (John) Tenney of Phoenix, AZ and five other nieces. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; James Schroer and Robert Schroer and one sister and brother-in-law; Nadine (Ernest) Casper. Funeral Services will take place Saturday November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Schramm with graveside services in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Bay City. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Carol will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for Westminster Presbyterian Church will be available at the funeral home.
