Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center at the age of 82. The daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Wyzkiewicz) Nowak was born February 10, 1941 in Midland, Michigan. Carolyn was a member of St. Gabriel Parish. Carolyn enjoyed watching the Molly B. Polka Party, football and NASCAR. She enjoyed trips to Las Vegas, Florida, Hawaii and the casino, but what she enjoyed the most was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Lori (Dan) Pashak; son, Rob (Julie) Rytlewski; grandchildren, Ryan (Melissa) Pashak, Bradley (Rina) Pashak and Jayson and Brandon Rytlewski; great grandchildren, Kelsey, Nolan and Taeho Pashak; brother, Robert (Dorine) Nowak; sister, Patricia (Dan) Ratell; sister-in-law, Norma Rytlewski and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, James Rytlewski; brother, Ronald Nowak; mother and father-in-law, Aloysius and Eva Rytlewski; sisters-in-law, Rita (Edward) Lijewski, Gertrude (Joseph) Pashak and Della (Gerald) Kalinowski and her brother-in-law, Erwin Rytlewski.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at St. Gabriel Parish. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Marc Hopps. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Gephart Funeral Home from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Rytlewski will be taken to the church to lie in state on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Memorial cards for the Bay County Humane Society or the Toni and Trish House will be available at the funeral home.
