On December 6, 2023, our faithful and beautiful Cassie Marie went to meet her Lord and Savior. She was surrounded by loved ones as she transitioned into eternal peace. Cassie passed away in Bay City, Michigan after a courageous battle with cancer.
Cassie was born August 12, 1988 to Susan (Navarro) and James Cottrell in Ypsilanti, Michigan. From the time she was six months old, she grew up in Bay City where she spent childhood summers making memories poolside with those closest to her. Cassie’s trademark sense of humor was contagious to all who spent time with her. There was never a shortage of inside jokes and giggles when Cassie was in the room.
After graduating from Western High School she attended Ferris State University, where she created many friendships and bonds that she carried with her throughout her life. Some of her favorite college memories were spent with her AST sorority sisters. Cassie then went on to earn her master’s degree from Life University in Atlanta, Georgia.
Cassie’s adulthood took her to many locations throughout Michigan and Minnesota, where she was able to pursue her passion of wellness and nutrition by working alongside several experts in the chiropractic and holistic health fields. She eventually expanded her skill set into personal coaching where she helped improve the lives of countless individuals. Through her numerous online nutrition videos, Cassie’s impact will continue to live on.
Amidst all of her trials and tribulations, Cassie’s unwavering and steadfast faith was apparent and endured until the end. This was also true in her daily life. A lifelong devout Catholic, she truly carried the light and spirit of Christ and touched many lives with her willingness and dedication to spread His love.
Cassie is survived by her husband of 2 years, Frederick Joseph DeLong IV.
Cassie also leaves behind her mother and best friend, Susan Navarro, who never left her side throughout her illness. Additionally, she is survived by her father, James Cottrell, who helped to guide her in her faith journey; her loving stepfather, Robert Navarro; her siblings - Cameron (Miranda) Cottrell, Jamie (JJ) Bamberger, Robert (Dani) Navarro; and her honorary sisters - Kayla Strain, Ashley Jacobs, and Elyse Hendrix.
Other special people that survive Cassie include her grandmothers - Marylou Cottrell and Bev Navarro, her grandfather - Paul Anderson, multiple beloved aunts and uncles and extended family, several special cousins who were seen as built-in best friends, and a work family that loved and supported her throughout her adult life. She will also be missed by her dear nieces and nephews - Adalyn, Callum, Brayden, Noah, Rieley, and Giavanna.
Cassie was preceded in death by her grandmother - Barbara Anderson, her grandfathers - Richard LaCourt, Thomas Cottrell, and Robert Navarro, and her uncle - Ken Cottrell.
During her final months, Cassie was supported by many friends and family from all over the country, especially the amazing nurses in her life - cousin, Karrie Schuman (Arizona) and Aunt Lisa LaCourt (Michigan), whom she is survived by.
