Cecelia A. Mersdorf

Mrs. Cecelia A. Mersdorf of Bay City passed Wednesday evening, July 6, 2011 at Brian's House with her loving family by her side. Age 84 years. The daughter of the late George and Pearl (Gordon) LaFond was born April 29, 1927 in Bay City. She was a member of Visitation Catholic Church. Mrs. Mersdorf had a great love for her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years; Ray Mersdorf, one daughter and son-in-law; Julie and Will Shorkey, two grandsons and their families; Todd and Marla Shorkey and their children; Emily and Ethan, Jeff and Shannon Shorkey and their children; Landry, Hannah and Quinn, one sister; Lois (Jack) O'Farrell, two brothers-in-law; Floyd Wiesen and Roy Mersdorf. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by four brothers; Fred (Dorothy) LaFond, Harry and Evelyn LaFond, Lloyd and Shirley McDonald and George (Willy) Raymaker, eight sisters; Lucretia (Oliver) Parent, Adele (Lawrence) Trombley, Edna (Floyd) Scott, Thelma (Gerald) Julian, Dolores (Floyd) Wiesen, Marie Ostrander, Lorraine LaRocque and Geraldine Foster. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Brian's House for their wonderful care for Cecelia. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Richard E. Jozwiak with the Rite of Committal following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Sunday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Mersdorf will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
