Charles passed away peacefully Monday afternoon, June 3, 2013 at Huron Woods Nursing Home at the age of 85 years. The son of the late Theodore and Alma (Schumann) Hitz was born June 26, 1927 in Bay City MI. Charles was a member of Kawkawlin Community Church. He served his country during W.W. II in the U.S. Navy. Charles was member of # 256 F.& A.M., Bay City Consistory Scottish Rite Cathedral, Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple and was a member of the Hillbillies, Jesters and the Mariners. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin, gardening, woodworking, deer hunting and pheasant hunting. Left behind to cherish his memory are two sons, Kreig Hitz and his wife, P.J. of Waldo, OH and Timothy Hitz and his special friend, Karen Mielke of Kawkawlin; two grandchildren, Jade A. Hitz of CA, and Nikolaus K. Hitz ,CA; his sisters, brothers and their spouses, Carol and Walt Weinlander, Maureen and Jim Coon, Alvin and Hilu Hitz, Farolyn Mullin, Alan and Pat Hitz, Jerry and Dena Hitz, his sister-in-law and brother=in-law Joan and Dean Storms, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Ann " Kay" Hitz whom passed away March 28, 2007. Funeral and Committal services will take places Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at. Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. David Dunn with private interment in Heavenly Rest Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. Members of Wenona Lodge #256 F.&A.M. will meet at the funeral home on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. for a Lodge of Sorrow.
