Charlotte Ann Thayer, age 72, of Alger, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at McLaren Flint with family by her side. Charlotte was born on March 31, 1950 to James and Grace (Guterman) Fierens in Bay City. Charlotte graduated in 1969 from Bay City Central High School. She worked many years at the Bay City Police Department in Central Records and retired from there. Charlotte enjoyed meeting up quarterly with the retirees and had many friends within the department. She married her husband, Gerald Thayer on June 14, 1974 at Immanual Lutheran Church and recently celebrated their 47Th wedding anniversary, Char and Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping, and the occasional beer. Charlotte was extremely hard working and was a loving wife, mother, and a devoted grandmother. Charlotte especially loved watching her grandson, Mason, at all of his games and events and was the loudest cheerleader for him. Charlotte has many nieces, nephews, and cousins and was a friend to so many.
She leaves behind to carry on her memory her husband, Gerald Thayer. Her daughters, Sonja (Cory) Kent, Kristin (Jerry) Sparks and son, Adam (Christy) Thayer. Grandchildren, Donald Jr., Breanna, Will, Delayne, and Mason and one great grandchild, Wyatt. Siblings, Joyce (Dale) Grigg, Lou (Bonnie) Fierens, Dick (Sally) Fierens, Jim (Marlene) Fierens, and a special sister-in-law, Mary Lou Lanker. She truly loved all of her family. She was welcomed into heaven by her parents, James and Grace and two brothers, Dick and Lou, and sister-in-law, Catherine.
A memorial service for Charlotte will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio in honor of Charlotte.
