Cheryl Lynn Highlen Bay City, Michigan Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Highlen, of Bay City, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, October 3, 2016 at Heartland Hampton Healthcare with her family at her side. Age 70. The daughter of the late Erwin and Dorothy (Kesemeyer) Loessel, she was born on December 24, 1945 in Bay City. Cheryl graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1963. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and its Mr. and Mrs. Club. Cheryl was also a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Club. On December 28, 1963 Cheryl married Ernie C. Highlen at Zion Lutheran Church with the late Rev. Dr. Herman F. Zehnder officiating. Ernie survives her passing along with their two children, Kimberly Goodnight and her special friend, Gregory Courier and Todd Highlen and his special friend, Amy Nowak; two grandchildren, Cody Goodnight and Nicole Goodnight; her sister, Judith (Jarome) Bialobrzeksi; her brothers and sisters-in-law, David (Diane) Highlen, Sharon Loessel, Myrtle Oatzes, Beverly (Joe) Lasky and Nancy (Mike) Cooney; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Cheryl was also preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Loessel; her son-in-law, James Goodnight; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Molly (Joe) Lesko and Pat Phillips. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Heartland Health Care Center and Heartland Hospice for the kind and compassionate care they provided for Mrs. Highlen during the time they cared for her. The Funeral Service will take place Friday, October 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. William H. Allwardt with private interment will be in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
