Perz, Chester ThomasBay City, Michigan Mr. Perz passed away March 20, 2010 at Brian?s House. Age 86 years. The son of the late John and Victoria (Bonk) Perz was born July 13, 1923 in Bay City. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Mr. Perz was active with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Bay County Historical Society and assisted with the restoration of the Trombley House. He retired from Dow Chemical Co. and served with the U.S. Navy during W.W. II.He is survived by his wife the former Veronica M. DeShano whom he married June 26, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Also surviving are two sons: Dale J. (Gwendolyn) Perz of Caro, MI and Randy J. (Denise) Perz of New Haven, MI, one son-in-law: Paul Gwizdala of Monroe, MI, three grandchildren: Sarah Perz, Rebecca (Jason) Sidders and Kelly (Brian) Chambers, three great grandchildren: Dakota Chambers, Morgan Chambers and Emmett Sidders, one brother: Sylvester (Jean) Perz, one sister: Irene Bouckaert, two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Perz and Geraldine (Franklin) Schlink, a special niece and caregiver: Connie Robetoy and many other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one daughter: Cathy Gwizdala in 2007, one brother: Stanley Perz, his sister and brother-in-law: Genevieve and Norman Lauckner, his sister-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary and Lee Hartson and Joseph Bouckaert. The family would like to extend a special Thank you to the staff of Bay Special Care Hospital and Brian?s House for the kind and compassionate care our loved one received during his illness. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Officiating will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm with the Rite of Committal in Calvary Cemetery followed by Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the deceased will take place Monday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Perz will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass.
