Chester J. Soehnel "Chet" Bay City, Michigan The son of the late Joseph Willard and Elizabeth Marion (Slabic) Soehnel passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Bay Medical Care Facility. Age 70 years. He was born December 16, 1945 in Gladwin, Michigan. Chet graduated from Gladwin High School in 1963 and attended Compton Community College in Compton, CA. He worked as an assembler, was very artistic and painted many beautiful paintings over the years. He enjoyed playing cards, checkers, spending time with his family and most of all he always took time to recognize a pretty woman. Left behind to cherish his memories are four sisters and two brothers-in-law; and two brothers and two sisters-in-law; Patricia Soehnel of Commerce Twp., MI, Anthony (Karen) Soehnel of Midland, June Soehnel of Bay City, Marie (Larry) Klamer of Bay City, Anna (William) Harper of Linwood, Joe (Barb Handy) Soehnel of Essexville, Judy Soehnel, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and one great great niece. Besides his parents Joseph and Elizabeth he was preceded in death by one brother; Francis Soehnel, one sister; Theresa (Robert) Kozak and one nephew; Ari Golden. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Saturday January 30, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish 2956 E. North Union Road Bay City, MI 48706. Rev. John S. Sarge will Officiate over the Funeral Rites. Rev. Fr. Marcel Portelli Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin will conduct the Rite of Committal at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Gladwin, Michigan. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday to receive visitors from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Soehnel will be taken to the church on Saturday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the American Cancer Society.
