Conrad E. Ekkens

Mr. Ekkens passed October 5, 2015 at Bay Shores Nursing Home. Age 84 years. The son of the late Clarence and Gertrude (Laskus) Ekkens was born September 22, 1931 in Bay City, MI. He was a very active church member of Grace United Methodist Church and the former First United Methodist Church. He was a lay reader, wrote a daily devotional that he sent out electronically to numerous people, he visited the sick and brought them communion and visited the Holy Land twice. Mr. Ekkens was the head of sales at Bishop Young Furniture. Left behind to cherish his memories are his children, Sara Ekkens of Ohio and Conrad A.H. Ekkens of Bangalore, India; one granddaughter, Emily Rudnitskas, two sisters, Jan (Paul) Dannesberger and Sue (Larry) Turner; one brother, Ed (Pam) Ekkens; his former wife, Cathy Munro-Golson; special friend and companion of twenty years, Betty Crawford. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by one brother; Steven "Butchy" Ekkens. At the request of Mr. Ekkens cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will take place Friday, October 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church 4267 S. Two Mile Rd., Bay City, MI 48706. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Temple. The family will be present at the church on Friday to receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
