Dagmar Christie

Mrs. Dagmar Christie, 73, of Bay City, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 24, 2015, at McLaren Bay Region. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was born in Apolda, Germany on August 11, 1941 to the late Herbert and Margarete Benkowitz. Her love story started the day she met her husband in 1960 while he served in the U.S. Army. They were married May 30, 1960 at St. Ludwig's Church in Ansbach, Germany. She was a member Corpus Christi Parish - St. Hedwig's Church and was retired from Delta College. Dagmar loved her beautiful gardens, her two schnauzer companions Hunter and Torri, cooking, and traveling with her husband to Germany to visit family.
Dagmars memory will be cherished by her husband of 54 wonderful years Ron Christie; two daughters, Karin (John) Kubczak of Bay City and Michelle Christie of Scottsdale, Arizona; her son, Peter Christie of Bay City; her four grandchildren, Amie (Jason) Hoppe, Lisa (Jeremy) Parent, Ryann (Travis) Vandenboom and Tyler Christie; her four great-grandchildren, Landon, Aubrey, Bailey and Riley; a sister, Gudrun Sdun; a brother, Lothar (Ingrid) Benkowitz; her nieces and nephews, Andrea, Katrin, Peter and Frank; and her close and dear friends, Char and Martin Keit and Irene Mindykowski and their families. Dagmar was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Margarete (Messmer) Benkowitz; and a sister, Sigrid.
The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at Corpus Christi Parish - St. Hedwig's Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Kevin N. Kerbawy. The Rite of Committal and entombment will be at St. Patrick Mausoleum. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the Parish Vigil Service beginning at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Christie will lie instate at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
