Daniel Joseph Krupa Daniel Joseph Krupa, 59, formerly of Pinconning, passed away at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Saginaw on August 1, 2010. He was born on August 4, 1950 in Port Hueneme, California to Bennie and Una (Coupie) Krupa, formerly of Pinconning. Daniel attended Pinconning High School, graduating in 1968. He entered the U.S. Army, serving with the 1st Cav. Division in Vietnam for two years. Daniel received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He is survived by his son, Gabriel Starr Krupa, of Frazier Park, California (Angela Sherman, financee); parents Bennie and Una Krupa of Bay City, three sisters: Sharon (Rev. Stephen) Schilke of Bay City, Michigan, Michelle (Dr. Thomas) Charbeneau of Paris, Texas, and Debra (Thomas) Kryzanowicz of Sanford, Michigan; seven nieces and nephews Mark (Raechel) Schilke, Dawn (Rev. Mathias) Shea, Jeff, Andrea and Brianne Charbeneau, Bryan and Kelly Kryzanowicz and six great nieces and nephews Jared, Allison, Tyler, and Elizabeth Shea, Jacob and Joseph Schilke; and special friends Gaylen Sape and Diane Winters. His brother, Dennis John Krupa, preceded him in death in 1981. Daniel was a naturalist who loved bird watching. He was especially interested in the osprey, an endangered species. He researched osprey and their habitat in California and led birding tours in California, Costa Rica, and Canada. Daniel was a finish carpenter for many years. He loved music and playing the drums. Family and friends may visit on Friday, August 6, 2010 from 1:00 to 3:00p.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, 201 W. Midland Street, Bay City. A memorial service will be officiated by Rev. Stephen Schilke beginning at 8:00 p.m. Daniel will be laid to rest at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation or gifts to the family will be used to buy items for the Palliative Care Center at the Veterans Administration Medical Center where he recently was a patient.
