Dan passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his residence with his family by his side at the age of 58 years. He was born February 16, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas. Dan was a member of Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. He retired as a registered nurse/ case manager from Occupational Consulting Services. Dan had a great love for his family; his greatest joy was his title of "Grandpa" for the first time. He enjoyed kayaking, fishing, camping, gardening, helping others, was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions Fan and loved to make people laugh and smile. Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife the former Debra S. Kelly whom he married May 8, 1976, his children and their spouses; Edward Schingeck, Daniel and Sarah Schingeck, Eric Schingeck, Michael G. and Rachel Schingeck. His pride and joy was his granddaughter; Freda May Schingeck, his parents; Daniel and Norma Schingeck, one sister and brother in law; Kathy and John Fryzel, one brother and sister-in-law; Damon and Sue Schingeck, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Tom and Shirley Kelly, Patty and Louie Adair, Timothy Kelly, Terry and Mary Ann Kelly, Geralyn and Virgil Sterner, Susan and Kevin Sova and Maureen Kelly and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law; Edward and Thelma Kelly and one brother-in-law; Paul Martinez. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Visitation Catholic Church. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Stephen J. Fillion with the Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, September 2, 2013 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil of the Deceased will take place Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Dan will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services.
