David H. Fischer

Our beloved husband, father, and PaPa passed away on Wednesday February 25, 2015 following a brief illness. He was surrounded at his 'home-going' with those who loved him; family, friends, and neighbors. Dave lived his life like he died, surrounded by those he loved and cared about. Dave was born August 17, 1955, a resident of Bay City all his life. He was known for his love of family, gardening, farming, and people. Dave was owner/operator of Dave Fischer Trucking and worked for J&L Transport. Dave hauled sugar to Ohio everyday giving him the nickname at Smuckers of "Sugar Dave". Dave is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Jill (Dore) and 3 grown children and their spouses; Missy & Steve Aden of Grand Rapids, Charlie & Kerry Fischer of Bay City, Bobby & Trisha Fischer of Bay City. He was blessed with many grandchildren who were the light of his life and also an excuse to buy "toys" for them from golf-carts to goats and chickens! Dave had nicknames for everyone! His grandchildren were no exception; Nana-boat, Roo-Roo, Boozie, Gracie Great, Buddy, Chuckles, Elly-Bells, Dizzy Dez, Nick-Knack, Bubba, and Nicole. Dave is also leaving behind his mother Elaine, step-mother Elizabeth (Chambers) Dore, sisters Bette (Tom) Wisniewski, Helen (John) Murphy, Peggy (Bill) Meylan, Nancy (John) Greenleaf, Mary (Dale) Ramseyer, Susie (Matt) Fick, one brother Duke Fischer and fiancé Tammy Ciesielski, sisters and brothers-in-laws; Mark Dore, Susan (Louie) Cronk, Danny (Sabrina) Dore, and Bob (Pat) Dore, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Christy Lynn Fischer, father; Charles Fischer, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and Robert Dore. The Fischer Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice, St. Mary's of Michigan-Saginaw, and especially Bob "Shade" Dishaw, Ron and Lynn McNally, Jackie and Alan Ruegsegger and all of our family and friends for the love and care they extended to Dave during his time of illness and over the years. It is our hope and prayer that Dave will be remembered as a kind, compassionate, truthful man who never said a bad thing about anyone and saw the good in everyone. The Funeral and Committal Service will take place Monday, March 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church 605 S. Woodbridge St. Bay City, Michigan 48706. Officiating will be Pastor Greg J. Langley. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Sunday to receive visitors from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. Dave will be taken to the church on Monday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for "The Wishes of the Family" will be available at the funeral home. www.gephartfuneralhome.com
