David passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center at the age of 73. The son of the late Robert Marshall and Dorothy May (Elder) Irving was born July 9, 1950 in Bay City, Michigan. David was a graduate of T.L. Handy High School, class of 1970, was retired from Saginaw Steering Gear and enjoyed hunting and golfing. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps and the Michigan Army National Guard.
David is survived by his wife, Mary P. Irving; two children, Christopher and Jana Irving; four step children, Melissa (Robin) Allison, Paul VanDam, Kristen VanDam and Lisa (Jonathan) Baak; six grandchildren, Lillian and Norah DeRosia, Axel and Greyson VanDam and Taliesyn and Temperance Toombs; brothers and sisters, Bonny (Dan) Sutter, Linda (Terry) Barcia and Steven (Sally) Irving; his best friends, Rickey and Melva Drager and two sisters-in-law, Ruth (Arnold) McKallem and Paula (Rolli) Sylvester. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert Irving; sister, Ruthann Heinz and his grandparents, William and Mabel (nee Woodruff) Elder and John and Annie (nee Wallace) Irving.
At the request of David, cremation has taken place and no services are being planned. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center.
