Jesus took David home on Thursday, March 16, 2017. He passed away at the Cartwright Hospice Residence in Saginaw at the age of 77. He was born on December 31, 1939 in Saginaw. David graduated from Saginaw High School and attended Delta College. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. David worked at John E. Green Co. as a project manager for 31 years. He enjoyed salmon fishing, hunting and also snowmobiling at his home on Houghton Lake. David spent his winters at his home in North Port, Florida for the past 13 years. He was an avid motorcyclist and was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association with the Sun Chasers Chapter in Florida and the Trinity Riders in Michigan.
On September 26, 1970 David married the former Sandra S. Stokes and she survives his passing along with his three children, Dean (Wendy) Stuart of Colorado, Mark (Jodi) Stuart of Clarkston and Dana Stuart of Saginaw; his grandchildren, Rachel, Zachary, Danielle, Jillian, Jennifer, Ian and Jordan, Mikinzie and Robert; a great-grandson, Bentley; a brother, Gerald (Barbara) Stuart; two sisters-in-law, Irene Stuart and Joy Stuart; and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear & special friends from Michigan & Florida. David was preceded in death by his father, Walter R. Stuart, Sr.; his mother and step-father, Alma (Eckalbar) and Raymond Janni; two brothers, Walter Stuart, Jr. and Fred Stuart; and a sister, Barbara Minnis. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Covenant as well as the staff at the Cartwright Hospice Residence for the loving care they gave to David.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor James Englehart. Interment will follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy and the Bay County Veterans Council. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to CMA Trinity Riders or to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission.
