Debra passed away Friday, January 31, 2020, at Brian's House after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born in Bay City on January 7, 1956, to the late Richard and Shirley (Staley) Jean. On August 16, 1975, she married Boyd (Luke) Schatzer and they were married for 44 years. Debra was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and in her spare time she loved decorating cakes and photography.
Debra is survived by her husband, Boyd (Luke); children, Kelly (Kevin) Pletzke, Shalynn (Michael) Jones and Lacey (fiance Anthony Dunckhorst) Schatzer; grandchildren, Miranda Jones, Paige Pletzke, Sienna Jones, Makenna Pletzke and Leander Schatzer; brothers and sisters, David (Janet) Jean, Carrie (Kim) Richardson, Mitchell Jean and Dawn Thompson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth (Kristine) Schatzer, Sandra (Bill) Marion, Linda (Dan) Schmidt, Harry (Tammy) Schatzer and Marjorie (Todd) Barr and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Nancy Schatzer; brother-in-law, Jack Thompson and father and mother-in-law, Martin and Sophia Schatzer.
Per Debra's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020, at Our Lady of Peace Parish - St. Mary's Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Pat O'Connor with rite of committal following in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday, February 9, 2020, from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass at the church.
