Mrs. Delores J. Botham, of Bay City, passed away Thursday evening, May 12, 2016 at the Bay Medical Care Facility, age 85. The daughter of the late John F. and Eva P. (Fichter) Nieman, she was born on June 21, 1930 in Flint. Delores was a longtime member of the former First United Methodist Church. She was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, and her favorite teams were the Tigers and Red Wings. Delores spent many winters in Florida, and she enjoyed bowling and golfing, and was an excellent seamstress. She was a devoted wife and a very special mother and grandmother. Spending time with her family was her favorite pastime.
On June 9, 1951 Delores married Lloyd D. Botham and he survives her passing along with their three children, Scott Botham of Bay City, Debbie (Jeff) McAlpine of Essexville and Sandra Gainsforth of Bay City; three grandchildren, Derek Gainsforth, Ashley Gainsforth and Kristie McAlpine; her brother, John (Judi) Nieman and their children, Marissa (Brad) Cardon and their son,  Landry; and her brother-in-law, Richard (Kaye) Campbell and their children, Burt (Linda) Campbell, Thom Campbell and Angie Campbell. Besides her parents, Delores was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Arthur Everett Botham.
The Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Temple. Private interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
