Lumsden, Delores M. Bay City, Michigan Delores (Dee) Lumsden, age 88 years, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, December 5, 2020 at the home, surrounded by her Family. She was born on February 7, 1932 in Wayne, Michigan.  She is one of 9 children, the Daughter of the late Edwin Dean Sr. and Mary (Supak) Dean. Delores graduated from Bay City Central, Class of 1950. Delores married the love of her life, Kenneth L. Lumsden in a Church Service on September 30, 1950 in Bay City, MI. They shared their years together raising a family of 7 children and creating countless memories. Kenneth predeceased Delores on November 11, 1994.
She was a devote Catholic her entire life. As a Member of Saint Hedwig Parish, she was active with the Kiesel Pearls supporting Church functions. She continued her Church activities when the Parish was merged with Corpus Christi Parish. Delores was a full time Home Maker. She also managed a career with the U.S. Census Bureau working out of the Detroit Office. She starting as a Census Taker during the 1960 census and retired as a Supervisor after the completion of the 2000 Census. During her many years of service she received numerous awards including the US Bureau of the Census agency's Bronze Medal during a Nov. 17, 1999 public ceremony in Washington D.C. Throughout her life she enjoyed camping, music, dancing, playing cards, and bowling. But one of her greatest loves was crafts, making pine cone wreaths and trees at Christmas time and holiday lawn ornaments that she would sell at bazars.
Surviving Family cherishing her memory are her children, William (Joyce) Lumsden of Hubert NC, Michael (Barb) Lumsden of Saginaw MI, Maureen (Alex) Stinson of Saginaw MI, Kathryn Clark of Defiance Ohio, Patrick Lumsden of Grand Rapids MI, Janis (Aaron) Burfoot of Seattle WA, and Son-in-law Robert (Gayle) Schorr of Watertown NY. Delores counted among her Blessings 17 Grandchildren; 25 Great- Grandchildren; her first Great-Great-Granddaughter and 7 Godchildren. Also surviving her are her siblings; Sisters Virginia Lear, Rosemary Shwagger, Alice (Jerry) Bridgewater, Mary Lou (John) Hayes, and Brother, Kenneth (Nancy) Dean and many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Delores was welcomed home to heaven by her husband, Kenneth L. Lumsden; daughter, Gayle Joan Schorr; granddaughters, Jamie Marie Lumsden and Emily Burfoot.
The family will greet friends at Gephart Funeral Home on Saturday, December 12, 2020 11:00 to 4:00 pm and on Sunday, December 13, 2020 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home on Sunday at 7:00 pm. Friends are limited to 25 people at a time, must wear Masks and maintain social distancing in the Funeral Home. The Church will be open at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, December 14th at Corpus Christi Parish in Bay City MI. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m followed by interment at Floral Gardens Cemetery. A luncheon is not planned. Over the years, Delores has contributed to many charities.  In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions in her name to the American Cancer Society or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. A donation box will be provided to place envelopes at the Funeral Home.
