Dennis D. Longley

Dennis passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Saturday, November 16, 2024 at McLaren Bay Region at the age of 75. He was born to the late William Longley and Daisy (Pomerville) Kowalchuk on September 3, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, from 1968 to 1972. Although he didn’t always live in Michigan, he was born and raised there and always found his way back. Dennis was an avid hunter and fisher, enjoyed boating and being on the water and anything outdoors. He was a family man and loved spending time with his family as often as he could.

 Dennis is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Cathy (Chappell) Longley; children, Dennis Longley Jr. and Jennifer Crandell; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Crandell, Aurora Longley and Gracious Longley; sister, Sandra Latchaw and brother, Rick Kowalchuk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pat Robertson; brother, Terry Longley and father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Geraldine Chappell.

 In honoring the wishes of Dennis, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be announced at a later date. The family asks that any memorial contributions would go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in honor of Dennis.
