Dennis C. Rivet "Sgt. Denny"

Sgt. Denny passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at Brian’s House with his family by his side at the age of 75. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 12, 1948 to the late Vincent and Eleanor (Pecha) Rivet. Dennis worked for the Sheriff Department for 32 years. He also was on the Marine Patrol Team and the dive and rescue team. He enjoyed watching football games, walking, camping in the U.P., Manistique especially during the color tours. He loved listening to country music, being out in nature and spending time with his family and his golden boys, Buddy and Tiger.
Sgt. Denny is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sherrie (Schalk) Rivet; sons, Dennis C. Rivet Jr. and David M. Rivet; daughter, Kellie Sue Rivet; grandchildren, Nathan Rivet, Dianna Duchesne, Samantha Duchesne and Nicholas Duchesne; brother, Daniel Joseph Rivet and special sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Morley and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dennis is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Alan Rivet; and daughters, Jennifer Rose Rivet; daughter-in-law, Brenda Sue Rivet.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Promedica Hospice and to Brian’s House for the outstanding care they provided Dennis.
At the request of Dennis, Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. Celebrant will be Fr. Jim Bessert with private inurnment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
