DeWaine L. VanEvery "Van" Bay City, Michigan Our loving and caring husband, father, and papa passed away Thursday morning, May 26, 2016 at his residence with his family at his side. Age 78 years. The son of the late LeRoy J. and Marian A. (DeYoung) Van Every was born January 4, 1938 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. He was an active member of Fremont Ave. United Methodist Church and graduated from Bay City Central High School. DeWaine started his career working at Valley Oxygen Company, continued on to Dow Chemical Company where he retired as a Site Senior Training Coordinator. After his retirement he was employed as a funeral directors assistant at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc., in his spare time he enjoyed bowling, golfing, traveling and especially enjoyed his vacations in the Upper Peninsula with his family. On December 29, 1958 he married his loving wife of fifty seven and a half years the former Sharon M. Kennedy and she is left to cherish his memories along with five children and their spouses; Laurie and Brian Urbach of Rochester Hills, MI, Jeff and Sue Van Every of Bay City, Karen and Charlie Parke of Bay City, Brad and Lori Van Every of Trenton, MI and Lesley and Shawn Lynch of Pinconning, ten grandchildren; Justin Urbach, Jason (Kristyn) Urbach, Jessica (Zach) Earp, Adam (Lauren) Van Every, Amber (Adam) Sexton, Tricia (Nick) Howell, Trevor (Heather) Stowers, Cassidy Van Every, Erin Lynch and Evan Lynch, six great grandchildren; Hayden, Ethan, Addison, Hugo, Emilia and Anna,one brother and sister-in-law; William and Diane VanEvery of Byron Center, MI, his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides his parents; LeRoy and Marian he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law; Irene and William Chapman. Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, June 1, 2016, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Fremont Ave. United Methodist Church (510 Fremont Ave. Bay City, MI). Officiating will be Rev. Susan E. Platt with interment following in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday to receive visitors from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. DeWaine will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to the American Diabetes Association.
