Dolores Valencia Garcia passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2018, just eight days short of her 86th. birthday at Hurley Medical Center. Dolores was born September 15, 1932 in San Antonio, Texas. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, mother-in-law, sister and aunt to many. She was a hard working woman all of her life, retiring from Abele Greenhouse. She also loved to knit, sew, crochet, garden and cook. She loved singing, especially with her husband of 63 years and had a strong beautiful voice. I guess that came from yelling at eight kids!!
Dolores is survived by her eight children, Guillermo Michael Garcia, Yolanda P. (Dan) Cisneros, Alexandra P. Garza, Juanita D. (Hector) Velasquez, Cindy Lou Flores, Ricardo (Melissa) Garcia, Dr. Lisa A. Garcia-Heintskill and David V. (Delphine) Garcia; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one brother, Juan Valencia. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Willie G. Garcia; parents, Eulogio and Juanita Valencia; one sister, Margaret Garcia; two brothers, Lorenzo Valencia and Guadalupe Valencia; one great granddaughter, Angel Alvarez Oliver and her son-in-law, Rudy Flores.
The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at All Saints Parish, St. James Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Jose Cabrera with the Rite of Committal following at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place at 7:00 p.m. Mrs. Garcia will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the wishes of the family.
