Chevalier, Donald Carl "Don" Essexville, Michigan Mr. Chevalier passed away peacefully Monday evening June 2, 2014 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Age 81 years. The son of the late Alvin G. and Marie (Klosowski) Chevalier was born January 3, 1933 in Bay City, MI and has resided in this area all of his life. Don proudly served our community as a captain of the Bay City Fire Department and retired after thirty one years of service, as well as serving his country in the United States Army. He was an active member of American Legion Post 18, the Bay County Republican Party and served on the Bay County Board Canvassers for many years. Don had a great love for raising pigeons, he was a life member of the Bay City Pigeon Fanciers Association and was involved in many other Pigeon Clubs. Left behind to cherish his memories are one son and daughter-in-law; John and Kathy Chevalier of Chicago, IL and one daughter and son-in-law; Sue and Michael McEvoy, three special grandchildren and their spouses; David McEvoy, Gregory and Meghann McEvoy and Stephanie and Tim Moyer, two great grandchildren; Colin Moyer and Jack McEvoy, one brother and one sister-in-law; Alvin and Grace Chevalier and his nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his wife the former Judith Armier on February 9, 2012. The family will gather at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday to receive family and friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Private Military Honors conducted by the Bay County Veterans Council will take place for the family at Floral Gardens Cemetery.
