Donald "Dobber" Hayes

Donald passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2024 at his home at the age of 86. The son of the late Basil and Harriet (Welter) Hayes, was born February 12, 1938 in Fairgrove, Michigan. Donald was retired from General Motors as an electrical engineer, he loved sports, especially the Detroit Red Wings. He also enjoyed woodworking, sailing, motorcycles, hunting, fishing, cycling and moose hunting in Canada. 

 Donald is survived by his wife, Cheryl D. Hayes; three adult children, Debbie (Don) Patterson, Tammy (Ken) Dallas and Jeffrey Hayes; eight grandchildren, Josh Patterson, Chrisy (Bobby) Badour, Megan (Joel) Beach, Kenny Dallas, Tommy (Sonya) Dallas, Michael Dallas, Matthew Dallas and Benjamin Dallas; eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Edward (Lara) Hayes; brother-in-law, Chip Lalk; sister-in-law, Suzanne (Michael) Ziegler and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Shirley (Jim) Tepatti and his sister-in-law, Jan Lalk. 

 A memorial service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Gephart Funeral Home. Officiating will be pastors Kenny and Tommy Dallas.
