Donald William Gies Jr.

Donald William Gies Jr. passed away on June, 1, 2019 at McLaren Bay Region from complications of an umbilical hernia. He was born in Sparta Wisconsin on July 24, 1962 to Donald and Willie Greene Gies. He was a kind and loving son, brother and uncle. Donald graduated from T.L. Handy High School in 1980. He loved the outdoors, oval track car racing, hunting, fishing and his dogs Wilma and Lucy. He worked at Sears, Monitor Sugar, and for many years in the automobile industry. Most recently at Bay Cars in Saginaw.
He is survived by his parents, Don and Willie Gies; his loving sister, Lisa (Joe) Courneya; nephews, Benjamin (Alexandria) Alcorn and Joseph (Rosa) Courneya; niece, Kayla Courneya;  his companion of twenty seven years, Debi Willy and her son Josh; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents; William and Laura Gies, Simon and Nell Greene; uncles, James Gies and Robin Greene.
As per Donald's wishes a private Service was held at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Officiating was Rev. Joseph Atchinson and he was laid to rest in Fremont Cemetery.
