Donald Elmer "Don" Knoellinger passed away unexpectedly Friday, morning December 12, 2014 at McLaren Bay Region. Age 78 years. The son of the late Elmer and Stella Knoellinger was born February 9, 1936 in Bay City and has resided here all of his life. Don was a member of Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church, retired from the American Hoist and Derrick Company as a millwright and was a self-employed carpenter. He will be sadly missed by his family and enjoyed camping, bowling, was a wonderful cook and will be remembered by many as "Mr. Fix-It." Left behind to cherish his memories are three sons and one daughter-in-law; Rodney Knoellinger , Donald and Pam Knoellinger and David Knoellinger all of Bay City, five grandchildren; Brandon, Melissa, Nichole, Heather and Donny Knoellinger, one sister and two brothers-in-law; Doris and Wayne Marcett of Bay City and Walter Garbulinski of Pinconning, one brother and sister-in-law; Wayne and Jan Knoellinger of Gaylord, one special niece; Garnetta "Fee" and Andy Maldonado of Bay City and many other nieces and nephews. On January 12, 1957 he married the former Garnetta Marie "Gar" McCoy and she preceded him in death on June 24, 2001. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law; Carolyn and Leo Stratton and one sister; Delphine Garbulinski. Funeral and Committal Services will take place Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church 602 Sidney St. Bay City, MI 48706. Officiating will be Rev. Steven L. Korth with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Don will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. and until the time of service. Memorial cards for Mt. Olive Ev. Lutheran Church will be available.
