Donald V. Manyen

Mr. Donald V. Manyen, of Beaverton, MI, formerly of Bay City, passed away Saturday morning, December 14, 2013 at his residence, age 79. The son of the late Alfred & Helen (Seeley) Manyen, he was born June 5, 1934 in Kawkawlin. On June 20, 1953 Donald married the former Helen Mae Czycalla at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Essexville and she survives him. He retired in 1996 as head mechanic at the Bay County Road Commission. Donald was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Edenville and formerly a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Bay City. He enjoyed hunting and, since retirement, spending winters in Florida. Mr. Manyen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Manyen; six children, Douglas (Susan) Manyen of Clarkston, Francis (Mary) Manyen of Copperas Cove, TX, Sherry (Dan) Hadd of Waukegan, IL, Richard (Cindy) Manyen of St. Joseph, MO, Diane (Ron) Scott of Madisonville, LA and Roger Manyen of Oakdale, CA; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Dodge and Louise Moore, both of Bay City; a brother-in-law, Edmund Czycalla of Bay City; a sister-in-law, Mary (Ed) Gunther of Essexville; and several nieces & nephews. Besides his parents, Donald was preceded in death his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edmund & Gertrude Czycalla; a son-in-law, Dave Ramirez; six brothers; and 2 sisters. The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. The Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. James G. Heller. Private interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. with the Vigil for the Deceased at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Manyen will lie instate at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Liturgy.
