Donna Jean Potter, a servant of Jesus Christ, whose presence brightened the lives of many, was born on May 8, 1941, in South Branch, Michigan. She entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on February 19, 2025, leaving behind a rich legacy etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
A graduate of North Eastern School of Business, Donna not only earned an Associate’s degree in Business but also owned and operated a small business with her husband in Bay City, Michigan. She was always extending a helping hand to anyone in need. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her giving spirit was a source of comfort to all who had the privilege to know her.
She was a cherished member of Peoples Baptist Church for over 30 years. Donna was a faithful soul winner, taught in Sunday school and children’s church, served in the church’s bus program and several other ministries.
Donna found immeasurable joy in spending time with her children and cherished her role as a grandma. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye, and she delighted in nurturing and creating lasting memories with them. From sporting events to adventurous outings, each moment shared was a precious gift of her love. She enjoyed reading and watching mysteries, putting together puzzles and playing word games.
Donna is survived by her five children: Donald A. Potter, Dawn (David) Hultstrom, David Potter, Debbie (Keith) Jensen, and Denise (John) Winden Jr., along with her cherished grandchildren: Donald A. F. (Abby) Potter, Sarah Potter (Sam Basner), Donna Jo (Derek) Wallis, Kip (Grace) Jensen, Joel Jensen, Noah (Hailey) Jensen, Seth Jensen, Alexandra Hultstrom, John Winden III, Jace Winden, Jake Winden, and Jhet Winden. Her legacy will further live on in her great-grandchildren: Donovan Potter, Damian Potter, Devan Potter, Donald A.L. Potter, Elliana Jensen, and Arya Jensen. Donna also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Homer Trimble, Betty (John) Watts, and Bud (Debbie) Trimble. She is preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Donald F. Potter; her mother, Grace (Hemstreet) Trimble; her sister, Marguerite “Peggy” Wyman and her sister-in-law, Cheryl Trimble. Their memories will forever remain a cherished part of her story.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at People’s Baptist Church, 701 W Midland Street, Bay City, Michigan. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Willman and Pastor Daniel Hester with private burial at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be considered to People’s Baptist Church.
