Donna J. (Mertz) Trombley was welcomed into God's loving arms on April 30, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born July 31, 1930 in Saginaw to the late David and Lydia (Schafer) Mertz. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1948. In her early years she worked at the Bancroft Hotel and Michigan Bell. In 1987 she retired from the Jacobson's Department Store. She met the love of her life Edward on a blind date and were married six months later on January 28, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Saginaw, they recently celebrated their 69Th Wedding anniversary. She enjoyed playing cards, doing puzzles, antiquing, and baking.
Mrs. Trombley is survived by her husband, Edward F. Trombley; three children, David E. (Carol) Trombley, Nancy A. (Martin) Adrian and Randall L. (Julie) Trombley; eight grandchildren, Dr. Michael (Dr. Carmen Meier) Trombley, Michele (Chris) Comer, Daniel (Michele) Trombley, Christine Trombley-Jacoby, Christi (Troy) Birchmeier, Brian (Jamie) Bittner, Ashley (Jacob) Culley and Steven (fiance, Colleen Kubiak) Trombley; 17 great grandchildren, Ian, Max, Russell, Elizabeth, Owen, Adele, Louisa, Molly, Bryce, Paige, Hailey, Trevor, Cayley, Alyssa, Aiden, Cooper and Sydney. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Nicholas Trombley and Scott Bishop and one sister, Kathleen Durn.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Corpus Christi Parish. Celebrants will be Rev. Fr. Robert J. Kelm and Rev. Fr. Kevin N. Kerbawy with private entombment following in St. Patrick Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to Corpus Christi Parish.
