On Friday February 6, 2015, angels of mercy came forward to escort Doris Marie Clifford to the promised heaven. Greeted by her faithful dog Georgie Girl, Doris was reunited with her husband of 54 years, Robert Justin Clifford, her beloved son, Gary Robert Clifford, sisters Isabelle Martin, Elaine Clifford and Theresa Dennis, brothers Lester and Donald Martin and all of her family and friends who have gone before her. Free of all her pain and suffering, beautiful beyond even that of her earthly vessel, she knows the reward of the love, kindness, faith and charity she graciously bestowed upon all who knew her. The daughter of the late Edward and Azilda (LaRouche) Martin was born on July 8, 1927 in Garfield Twp., Bay County, MI. Family was everything to Doris and surviving to cherish memories of laughter and happy times are two daughters, Diane (Terry) Grills, Susan (David) Voss, one son Thomas (Cindy) Clifford, nine grandchildren, Tommy (Becky), Shannon (Steve) and Justin Clifford, Traci (Chris) McFarland, Taylor McCollom, Amy (Brandon) Cavanaugh, Terry Patrick (Tamara) Grills, Amanda and Jennifer Voss, eleven great-grandchildren and many dear nieces and nephews. Doris was a graduate of St. Joseph High School, a charter member of Daughters of Isabella, a past president of St. Vincent de Paul Ladies Auxilary where she initiated Saturday afternoon Guitar Masses, a member of Studio 23, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Bay City Lions Club and a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the care providers over the years who tended to Doris as they would have their own mother, especially Susan Samson and Dr. Subbarao Chavali. The Funeral Liturgy and Rite of Committal will take place Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Parish - Holy Trinity Campus. Celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert S. Gohm with private interment in Floral Gardens Cemetery. The family will be present at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. Monday from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. to receive visitors. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Clifford will be taken to the church on Tuesday to lie in state from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a memorial to The American Heart Association or National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
