Doris Delena LaRocque

Doris Delena (Wilson) LaRocque of Bay City, Michigan, our beloved Mother, Grandmother., Great Grandmother and sister passed away peacefully with her family at her side on January 19, 2025. Doris was born in Brimley, Michigan on August 26, 1929 to the late Austin and Martha (Gilroy) Wilson. She graduated from Brimley High School in 1946 and North Eastern School of Commerce, Bay City in 1948. It was there that she met the love of her life Robert Joseph LaRocque. They were married on June 18, 1949 at St. Joseph Rectory, Bay City, Michigan. He predeceased her on November 16, 2007 after 58 years of marriage 

Doris was a member of Our Lady of Visitation Church for 63 years. She was a lector, past president of the Little Flower Altar Society, a member of the League of Catholic Women and Men, past president of the Kiwanis Club Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Knights of Columbus #414 Ladies Auxiliary. She worked at Our Lady of the Visitation Church as Bookkeeper/Secretary for 42 years. She retired in 2007. On July 1, 2014, Doris joined Corpus Christi Parish (Holy Trinity). 

Doris especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their activities. She also loved gardening, traveling, playing Bridge and going to the casino. 

Doris leaves behind to cherish her memories two sons and daughter-in-laws, Robert (Debra) LaRocque, Richard (Marie) LaRocque and one daughter and son-in-law, Susan (Daniel) Williams. Eight grandchildren, Robert (Erica) LaRocque, Jonathan (Katie) LaRocque, Lindsay (Nick) Schacher, Ranae (Josh) Ratajczak, Richard LaRocque, Travis (Kristal) Williams, Austin (Sarah) Williams and Chelsea (Lindsay) Williams-Morrison. Thirteen great grandchildren, Ellie McGee, John and Henry Schacher, Chet and Çora Ratajczak, Andie and Bennett LaRocque, Henley and Holden Williams, Addison and Alyse Morrison, Briana and Kyle Bixby, one sister, Arlene Winters of Texas, and one-brother, Gordon (Erna Lou) Wilson of Traverse City; one sister-in- law, Jeannette Wilson of Reed City and many special nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters and their husbands, Violet (Don) Edward, Lila (Johnny) Pesola, Patricia (Ron) Drow, two brothers, Clayton (Dorothy) Wilson, Fay Wilson and one brother-in-law, Robert Winters. 

The family would like to thank Bayfield Assisted Living and Corso Care Hospice for the care and compassion they gave to Doris. 

The Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 25, 2025 at Corpus Christi Parish. The celebrant will be Rev. Fr. Robert Gohm with entombment at Calvary Mausoleum in Kawkawlin, Michigan. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
