Doris Jean LeVasseur

Doris Jean LeVasseur (Culver) Bay City, Michigan Mrs. LeVasseur passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 at Sheffield Place. Age 97 years. She was born to the late Fred and Edna (MacGregor) Culver on December 31, 1918 in Highland Township, Oakland County. Doris was an active member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, she graduated from Edward W. Sparrow Nursing School in 1940. She enjoyed her summers visiting their cottage in Bay View, Petoskey. She also enjoyed playing cards. Doris loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Left behind to cherish her memories are her children; Jane (James) Tucker, Brian (Carole) LeVasseur, Jeffrey (Pam) LeVasseur, Step daughter Judith LeVasseur (Randy) Sierras her grandchildren; Troy (Lisa) Sierras, Lynn (Trace) Krone, Traci (Toby) Merrick, Joshua (Meghan) Tucker, Matthew (Ashley) Tucker, Andrew (Kristin) Tucker, Bradley (Amanda) LeVasseur, Allie LeVasseur, Maddie LeVasseur, Kathryn LeVasseur, great grandchildren ; Max Sierras, Noah Krone, William LeVasseur, Finley Tucker. She is survived by 1 brother-in-law Jerome LeVasseur and 1 sister-in-law Virginia LeVasseur. On December 6, 1952 she married Omer LeVasseur and he preceded her in death on May 18, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Georgia Culver Ackerman and numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws. A special thank you to June Shobe for her compassion and for taking such good care of her during these past months. Thank you to the staff at Sheffield Place for their care of Doris during her time spent there. Funeral Services will take place Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. with interment following in Elm Lawn Park Cemetery. The family will be present at the funeral home on Monday to receive visitors from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Rescue Mission or the Bay Area Women's Center.
